September 1st 2020
Singing, piano and group classes resume this September 1st 2020.
In September, we're coming back to normality and we are resuming in house GUITAR LAB, BAND LAB, SINGING, PIANO and SAXOPHONE LESSONS.
But we know that we need to be conscious and prepared to deal with the difficulties of the current times.
First, the elephant in the room: masks.
We know that masks have been a controversial matter but let us assure you: we want YOU to feel safe.
If you feel like you need to wear a mask or you require our teachers to wear one when not social distancing, just inform us.
Our guidelines are in alignment with what the government has dictated: masks can and will be used when we CAN'T keep social distance.
1-ON-1 LESSONS: We announced the guidelines for drum and guitar lessons last June and we introduced our ONE-WAY SYSTEM - see images.
GUIDELINES FOR EACH INSTRUMENT
- We will enforce a strict 6ft apart rule between students and teachers whenever possible;
- Teachers might approach you to open doors and during teaching but this will be done cautiously.
- Teachers will be asked to wash their hands regularly, for at least 20 seconds at a time;
- Students will not be allowed to use our instruments for the time being as we want to avoid sharing instruments;
- All students must bring their own material, including picks, cables, headphones, drum sticks and reeds;
- Singing students will be asked to stand side by side with their teachers - and at least 12ft apart. More info on this soon.
GUITAR LAB/BAND LAB
- Guitar Lab and Band Lab students will have specific "safe boxes" assigned for them - see image 1:
Students will enter the room one at a time and stay within their safe box zone as much as possible.
If you have any questions or remarks, please communicate with us.
We are here for you.
As you were here for us.
June 15th 2020
This is the date that we, provisionally, have set to be our re-opening date.
That gives us another 28 days to assess the evolution of the current global pandemic.
Our policy once we return will be "COMFORT FIRST".
That means that we will welcome all students who are comfortable with coming back to in-person lessons but we will continue to offer online lessons - indefinitely.
PHASE 1: We will start with guitar, bass and drum lessons. No group classes.
PHASE 2: Piano lessons resume.
PHASE 3: Group classes, singing and saxophone lessons resume.
COVID-19 has changed the world rapidly but we intend to get to back "normal" as soon as possible.
We intend to do everything within our power to ensure that everyone is safe and that we can continue to teach at the academy.
That means that some things will change.
We will enforce a strict 6ft apart rule between students and teachers whenever possible;
Teachers might approach you to open doors and during teaching but this will be done cautiously and seldomly for the first 60 days (at least);
Teachers will be asked to wash their hands regularly, for at least 20 seconds at a time;
Students will not be allowed to use our instruments for the time being as we want to avoid sharing instruments;
All students must bring their own material, including picks, drum sticks and reeds;
We will enforce a one-way system to avoid too much proximity between students coming in and leaving the academy - see below:
We will keep on updating our regulations and practices in order to keep you all safe.
See you soon.
On March 20th we announced that we had to temporarily stop all in-person lessons due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus. We immediately (within hours) shifted to online lessons.
We are deeply sorry for this. It is not what we want to do, but it is what we need to do.
However, we intend to keep teaching all of our students and so, we will move all of our lessons to platforms such as ZOOM, SKYPE.
These lessons will be slightly different but a lot can be done using these platforms. We can still record them, we can send out PDFs and MP3s, we can watch Youtube videos together and comment on these, etc etc...
If you wish to continue to take lessons with us, please let us know of which platform you'd like to use:
1) Zoom (https://zoom.us/signup)
2) Skype (https://www.skype.com)
If you have any questions, please do let us know.
These are challenging times and we need unity more than ever so that when normality resumes, we still have a great academy to come back to. We need your support, now more than ever.
If there's anything we can do to help you during these difficult times, please let me know. We're in this together.
